Ok...

This Electronut just got permission to operate/PTO (sort of...)! (Woot!)

Just keep taking the long view, and this stuff really does save money... in the long run.

So, I guess I'm following Peder and Tom and the rest of you Mini-E Solar Pioneers!

Now, I guess I'll have to invest in a more energy efficient pool pump and AC to ensure that I'm overproducing!

Thanks to Real Goods and BMW for the partnership! The timing could not have been more perfect. I had come to an inflection point that allowed Real Goods to supplant Solar City when that announcement was made.

Congrats Dennis! I've been looking into the pool pump upgrade myself. Take a look: http://www.ecopoolpumps.com/energy-e...ool-pumps.html

Airton,

Contratulations!
I am a bit behind you. I want to get solar panels, and talked to Real Good Solar, but for some obscure reason, the solar panels need to be sitting on a sound and sturdy roof.

So first I had to get a 55 year old roof replaced. RGS recommended a roofing company in Southern California that does excellent work, and supplies the necessary foundation for RGS' equipment.

So there was a slight detour to get the roof examined, new roofing materials and colors chosen, an estimate given and accepted, demolition work done, unexpected repairs performed, roof installed, and the debris hauled away.

So, at this point, the roof replacement is complete, and I now need to get back with RGS and hash out the details, such as panel placement, electrical box upgrade, etc., etc.

Thanks Ardie, yes wow a 55 year old roof is well worth replacing now! I had to re-seal my 2 flat roofs (did it myself to save $$$) luckily we had the shingled roofs replaced only 7 years ago.

Best of luck, it's a bit of a long administrative process, the actual installation was only 5 days for this 5.4 kW system.

Congratulations Airtron.

Ardie, I had to have my roof replaced as well...

Here's a pic of my system from the roof. My entire system is not visible from the street, so have to take the shots from above.

Additionally, I finally did my Napkin Math update on the savings with Real Goods Solar vs. ICE.

and congratulations to you Dennis, it looks like the same Sharp 235 watt panels (made in the USA) and Enphase M215 micro inverters they used on my install.

That sounds about right. Solar City was going to install some Chinese solar panels on the roof, I sure am glad that the Real Goods Solar deal came out when it did.

Here's to many sunny days!
